Selkirk Invikta Pickleball Paddle is a players paddle.

Selkirk has long been the leader in pickleball paddle innovation and the Invikta, the latest of the Amped line, introduced in 2017, is no exception. I haven’t done any scientific polling but its the paddle many of the best players have been using since it came out and its become my go-to paddle, replacing my trusted, elongated but lighter Amped Maxima, also by Selkirk.
Why did I switch? The Invikta gives me more power. It doesn’t have quite the touch of the Amped Maxima, or that sweet sound but its close enough.
Besides touch the thing that catches our attention when trying out a new paddle is the sound it makes hitting the ball, hopefully back over the net. The sound has come a long way from the plywood paddles of not too many years ago. That sound is really annoying. The harder, and less absorbing the paddle the more annoying the sound gets. You may lose a little power but you won’t scare yourself or your partner with any paddle in the Amped line. You’re also less likely if, heaven forbid, you’re playing within shouting distance of diehard tennis players (yes they’re still around) who will ask you to stop making so much racket. Or suggest you switch to a softer, gentler, pretty much a fake ball that you’d give to a toddler to play with. This actually happened at a local indoor tennis facility which also allows pickleball players to grace their court. This is so they can concentrate on not making so many unforced error. Sigh, those tennis players. God bless ‘em!
The Invikta is available for $150 and the paddle can also be ordered with customized grips and weights. These choices are what really sets the Invikta apart from the competition. Hint: if you’re not sure about grip size try adding a wrap to your current paddle and feel the difference it makes.
